Commercial Wharf II says, “It’s unanimous!”

Did you know that there are already areas in Monterey County where the HER Helmet Thursdays project–demonstrating MoCo’s extra bike friendliness–is red hot?

Sandbar & Grill and LouLou’s Griddle in the Middle, on Wharf II

Here on Monterey’s Commercial Wharf II, the first participants, Sandbar & Grill and London Bridge Pub, were soon joined by Sapporo’s Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi. And when Allecia at LouLou’s Griddle in the Middle heard about HER Helmet Thursdays, she didn’t hesitate with her response:  “I’m in!”

Thus this friendly neighborhood was in complete agreement, saying, “Here on Wharf II, you can know you’re in an extra bike friendly zone.”

Bike over on Thursday and get a discount from all of these businesses:

You’ll spot the “Tips for Tourists/HER Helmet Thursdays” signs
in the windows at London Bridge Pub and
Sapporo’s Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi.

This bike rack is directly outside London Bridge and just downstairs from Sapporo’s.

A good neighbor

Wharf II’s closest neighbor, Lopez Taqueria and Liquor, is also in the project.  This sit-down taqueria is across Del Monte Avenue, on the corner.  In the photo below, see it across the intersection and on the left.

Stop in and relax with a cold beer, taco, or other offering.  Then cycle back across the street to the bike trail (or wherever you’re headed) and continue enjoying your day, knowing you not only saved money on gasoline, you also saved money on your meal.  Add in the benefits to personal and planetary health that come from cycling, and you will find yourself wanting to celebrate life this way every Thursday!

The deli of La Casa Bodega gives discounts to cyclists every Thursday!  Watch for their “Tips for Tourists” signs in the windows too.

What do you need to know?

So, if you’re a cyclist and want to be sure of a warm welcome, you don’t even need to take a look to find out who’s participating.  Just bike to Wharf II, and it’s a sure thing!

Yup, the Commercial Wharf II is straight ahead!  And since this wharf is wider and less heavily traveled by pedestrians, it’s fine to bicycle right on out.  In fact, you’ll want to do that, as this is a terrific place to catch some sweeping views.

Enjoy your ride!
