Students of Jack Franscioni Elementary School, Soledad host Ride for Safe Routes visitors

Children at Jack Franscioni Elementary School in Soledad were hosts for the Monterey County visit by women who Ride America for Safe Routes.  Learn more about this group of women and their goals on the U.S. Department of Transportation blog:  “Women bicycling across the U.S. for Safe Routes to School.

These women were biking in Monterey County April 26-27, and made their  presentation in Soledad on April 26.  Special thanks to Arlene Sanchez for these photos from their visit at Jack Franscioni.

What else was up with these Monterey County visitors?

After Soledad, the Ride America for Safe Routes women did the bike-and-ride to Monterey, where they camped at Veterans Park.  Read about their visit in their 4/28/12 blog post, “Riding high through Big Sur.”

Being here on a Thursday and being hungry for Thai food, they asked Bicycling Monterey to recommend some HER Helmet Thursdays spots.   They later wrote in their blog:

“We picked Krua Thai, which we had been craving forever, and biked back down the hill [from their camping spot at Veterans Park, Monterey] to fill our bellies with delicious food and check out Monterey.”
