This photo shows construction progress as of March 21, 2019. Below it, learn about this unusual Class 4 project.

From a 3/26/19 story by Caitlin Conrad for KSBW, “Broadway Avenue got a revamp in 2018. The construction was not popular at the time but now businesses are happy with the new look and improved pedestrian and bicycle safety.”

As reported June 25, 2018 by David Schmalz in the Monterey County Weekly, the City of Monterey was celebrating upcoming North Fremont transportation infrastructure improvements with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 26.

Among infrastructure changes to be made: addition of Class IV bike lanes adjacent to North Fremont medians, and bike signals and bicycle-protected intersections at Casa Verde (which leads to the Monterey County Fair & Event Center), Casanova Ave, Dela Vina Ave / Airport Rd, and Ramona Ave.

Among ways to advocate for infrastructure improvements is through participating in activities of the Transportation Agency for Monterey County bicycle and pedestrian facilities advisory committee (“bike-ped committee”). Attend meetings as a visitor or committee member, or just get on the email list to stay informed, so you can give input as important decisions are being made: http://www.tamcmonterey.org/contact/information-request-form/
